Things I am grateful for this year.

Nina
Sister.

Boys
Love never dies. Coppola was talking about Chu Chu and Poppo.

Facebook
WTF is this. It's free?! And all people I care about ever are on it?! Duuuude.

Ministry
Chances. Paychecks. Schedule. Camaraderie.

26 year old boys
That ask me if I'm married? Can I take you out for a drink sometime? Cuz it's flattering.

GNO
Always and forever. Worth it on so many levels.

My House
Home.

There are many more, but for now.

Happy New Year.

Things I Like About Econ Analysts

1. Meetings take 20 minutes, max.
2. Most have a sensitive nature.
3. They seem to think themselves as "uncool." Which is endeauring, but
more so, easy to call up with questions. Bringing us to...
4. They are available at 6:30 in the morning.
5. They are funny.

I might love this species.

WHAT AMERICA IS

This can be a statement, a question, as well as a rhetorical question.

TGIF

The boys and I stay in with a half bottle of Beaujolais, osashimi, and
buta kimchi;)

I feel like I have a missing piece of my heart back. My feet are light when I head home, and I can't wait to get home!

And I'm not talking about the Beaujolais!

Love In Field

China is the new America.
It's where everyone wants to sell products to.

I don't make cars.
I don't make batteries.
I can make body scrubs. I will call the line Love In Field, and sell them in Japan too.

Maybe my fantastic spa will kindly carry the line first. First, the backstreets of Harajuku. Then, China.

We Are The World

ひーーっさしぶりにalmost オールしたよ〜♪( 4時まで遊んでた)
男の子たちも一緒だったから超はしゃいだ!

We Are The World歌ったけどこれはいいね。

Legs on Fire, Missing Goldfish

Soooo..

Two nights ago I woke up with a sensation that my legs were burning. I had put on a sports balm before going to bed (on my legs but also my shoulders and arms) and I woke up because my skin on my calves were on fire (but no where else). I tried everything--wiping them down with cold water, even taking a shower and rinsing the balm off with soap, but nothing. I was starting to panic. They were so hot that I had to cool them down with zip-locked ice packs. The next morning I woke up and it was almost surreal. Did that really happen? Yes, ESP'd the two thawed zip-locked ice packs at the foot of the bed.

Then last night, I woke up again, frantically searching for my two bowls of swimming goldfish. I do not own goldfish, and pretty much never have. I was, again, in a near-panic. I went to bed disheartened for they were nowhere in sight, and it was only this morning that I was able to tell myself, Miss Ai, you don't own goldfish.

Oh, yeah.

Clock Strikes Twelve

A golden, old but never-been-worn dress.
Black satin clutch, red satin lining. Private-detective A-line long jacket.

A feast, of forest butter, sea treasures, and roasted pheasants.
Among comrades, glittering hopefuls, strangers behind glass.

Charming night, gotta run, clock strikes twelve.

Hmph, both shoes stayed on.

HONG KONG

I am in Hong Kong for almost 2 weeks, chillaxing and thinking and doing projects non-ministry-oriented.
(Although here, I can watch the ministry channel 24/7. Kinda cool.)

Nothing too exciting, but here are some photos for you.

Causeway Bay. I love the name. 銅鑼灣. Copper Gong Bay? Copper Basin Bay?

Recluse Bay, a BBQ at the yacht club with friends old and new. Identical twins involved.

I love taxis here because they are inexpensive, know exactly where they are going, and do not (to the best of my knowledge) rip you off. In Japan they are expensive, require specific directions for getting from Point A to Point B (kinda defeats the purpose of a 'taxi' doncha think...) and will sometimes take the longer route.

Cakes for sale at a subway station.

Meeting a friend for Afternoon Tea at the Peninsula. Foggy due to extreme humidity!

Yes, it was delicious. But they don't give you different kinds of tea like they do at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo.

Drinks and din din at Aqua.

I love cucumber cocktails especially in the summer.

Lasers from atop skyscrapers light up the sky every night. A tourist captures the moment. (I capture her moment.)

Most of last week was cloudy/rainy, but this weekend was bright and perfectly summery. I will share more photos soon!

Reports

I feel I am doing such a horrible job that yesterday I dreamt that they asked me to fly back economy-class. I am not joking.

What is so tough?? Not so much with the report-ing (yeah, I know, I'm not bad) but the actual behind the scenes stuff. Long story but. Here you go, if you have the interest and time!

Three down, two to go.

God work is hard.

Work on my 31st

I'm 31! I'm 31! An odd number wooo!! (??)

I spent the first four hours of my 31st year Lovin It, ie working on these reports from Singapore. I really thought to myself: Gosh I'm lucky. How many people get to do what they want to do? I get to talk to people, make audio video pieces, work with half a dozen people each with specialists, work on TV and go on TV. This is a gift from somebody and I'm so lucky I have it in my hands right now. And I was happy that it happened on my birthday because I feel blessed to be able to do what I like professionally on a personal day.

Course my motto of late is "I wanna be a brainless housewife" mainly because going to Hong Kong with my beau was the most relaxing thing I have done in a loooong time. Cuz he took care of everything! I did nothing! Expect do my hair! And that was nice too :D Do you think one gets bored being a brainless housewife? Don't you think that contradicts that fact she's brainless??

May this be a happy day for you too.
