ME, 28

A LONG TIME AGO--precisely a decade ago actually, when I was 18 and a freshman year at Vassar--I realized, one day, that I was growing up, right then. In fact, I looked at myself in the mirror and told myself so. Perhaps there was a beer or two in me, but it was a lucid moment and one that I've not forgotten about. Recently, I've had a similar feeling, my second to that at college. I would not say that what I am going through is as dramatic a metamorphisis as a recently-went-home friend says he is going through (he mentions this stage as a third chapter in his life, the first two being 1) childhood and 2) entering adulthood), but I would still say it was a significant change.

The closest way I've found to describe this stage in words is to say that I feel I am marrying myself. I feel like I am taking on more responsiblity in my life, but in doing so, am able to spread my arms wider and have more momentum in work and play. Now that I think of it, this friend of mine also happens to be married (to a real person, in his case), and I think his marriage would count as being one of the major events of his Chapter Two. So, if my life can be divided up similarly into chapters, maybe this is part of my Chapter Two.

I don't know if this "marriage" to myself is a good one or not. Basically it's an emotional time in my life, and most of what I feel now is being scared and wanting an easier way out. I look at errands--no, tasks..., no GOALS--of the day, and I don't know how I'm going to do them. I've probably been in this stage for the majority of the past few years, but this is down right the lowest point of the curve (or one hopes it is, anyway). At least--again, one hopes--there's only one way to go from here, which is up.

So that's me, at 28.

YOUR MISSION

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to have a really good day because Ethan Hunt greets you every morning before going to work.

Gotta go see this movie ASAP, preferably at the premimum seats at the Hills.

CATWALK

Yes, we walked the catwalk for ViViD x HiDETAKA LEE, and No, Mom, we did not succum to the evils of sex, drugs and rock 'n roll for doing that. Not even a call from Vogue NY! Sniff sniff.

It was lots of fun and we got to meet lots of other half-Japanese people.

More phots later, this from our phone cam.

Psst... Nina was the best. Everyone said so. She was like "yes, I do this in my spare time". Seriously. Video available for viewage later.

THE OAK DOOR

Friday: girls night out. Below us is Heartland's rowdy 500 yen-a-beer crowd, here is the roudy 1,500-a-cocktail crowd. At least we get to sit, eat hors de vors, dress up a bit. We are at the Grand Hyatt, after all. We clink to complimentary bubbly, I think because we knew the waiters. Later, a great Bloody Mary: ask for it spicy. Pictured, marinated olives with sour dough.

I am adding a new section to my entries called "It's a Small Tokyo" where I count how many people I run into (when I do) in one day. I tell you peeps, it's a small Tokyo. Today's was Beau, at the Oak Door.

SHIODOME

I love this town. The ocean breeze, tall buildings, fine dining, clean (..cleaner) air. Conrad, Bice, Tateru Yoshino, Yurikamome Line across the Rainbrow Bridge. Nathan's, Shinsei, Ferrari-fast elevators, Tsujiri...

Course what's Shiodome without the occasional sumo wrestler and the Titanic movie re-enacters??

I have an affection for a great city. I feel safe in the neighbourhood of man, and enjoy the sweet security of the streets. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I think I probably love Tokyo. At least for now. I love Tokyo!

KESSAN

It's Tax Time for the company. And it's also the last game for the World Cup, France vs Italy.
I finished today's work with the first and now I'm onto the latter.
I'm rooting for the Italians, ciao!!

HiDETAKA LEE 20007 S/S COLLECTION

Hello All. Back by popular demand, se moi.

Ninapod and I will be cat-walking at designer HiDETAKA LEE's sping/summer 2007 collection on July 17, Monday (a national holiday for those in Japan). The show will start from 10pm, and AVANT GARDE will perform a short song-n-dance afterwards. The venue is Warehouse in Azabu Juban, the same for which was Spinshell Night I (the wildly acclaimed). Please print out the flyers and come see HiDETAKA LEE's latest creations, as well as yours truly singing at a decent hour (^_-)-★

About HiDETAKA LEE

HiDETAKA LEE is a ladies apparel brand designed by creative director Hidetaka Lee Fukuzaki.

Fukuzaki studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and after returning to Japan, he worked for Issey Miyake Japan. After four years at Issey Miyake, Fukuzaki launched "LiMLEE" in 2004. From April 1st, 2006 renamed the brand to "HiDETAKA LEE".

Brand Concept

HiDETAKA LEE strives to create clothes that make people happy. "Clothes" in Japanese is pronounced "youfuku" which consists of two chinese characters. We like to explain to people that we use the chinese character for happiness as "fuku" which is also the same chinese character as Fukuzaki's name. Clothes are something you wear on a daily basis, so why not feel happy everyday? Fukuzaki draws inspiration from his dual Chinese-Malaysian and Japanese heritage as well as from his extensive period of living in Australia, China, and the U.S. From these multicultural experiences, Hidetaka Lee Fukuzaki combines Eastern elements with Western tailoring techniques to render subtle and sophisticated career wear, echoing the lifestyle of the modern international woman and reflecting his design philosophy of 'Asian Fusion.'
